Our ‘Open Canyoning’ sessions are perfect for intrepid adventurers who are visiting Scotland on a solo trip, part of a duo or a small group of friends looking for a real Scottish adventure, who are also happy to share the experience with like-minded thrill seekers. Where to meet us
On the day of your adventure, we will collect you from Market Street entrance to Edinburgh Waverly train station- the most convenient location for people staying in central Edinburgh and for those who are slightly on the outskirts of the city, Market Street has direct access to public transport links from Lothian Busses or Scotrail train services.
Our meeting time is 09:30AM, where we will collect you in our colourful minibus- you can’t miss us!

What to expect
Too much fun!
From the moment you step foot in our colourful minibus, to wriggling into your wetsuit to then sliding, jumping and abseiling down Dollar Canyon, your day will packed with lots of exhilaration, good laughs and a whole load of ‘oh wow, I just did that’s’.
Starting at Lower Dollar car park, we will get kitted up and take the 10 minute walk up to to the top of the canyon, where we will do a safety brief, do one last equipment check and then we will get into the water. There will be a short splash around as we wade to the first fall- this is normally when the adrenaline starts pumping. From then, we will slide down natural waterfalls, jump off cliffs and abseil down some falls as we cascade down Dollar Glen.

Our instructors have had there fair share of having to wear poor equipment from outdoor adventure facilitators, which is why at Intrepidus Outdoors we provide high-end, high quality equipment for all our clients.
We use ‘Seland‘ canyoning wetsuits which are designed to keep you warm, safe and looking like a canyoning ninja for your instagram posts. As well and snazzy wetsuits we provide: canyoneering boots designed to grip onto the slippery rocks underfoot, helmets, canyoning harnesses and all other safety equipment- after all, canyoning is an extreme sport, so keeping safe is of upmost importance.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
You don’t need to bring much, just swimwear, a towel and your inner gnar. If you’re staying in one of Edinburghs luxurious hotels and only have access to there pristine white towels, we can also offer towel hire for £4.50 per person.

Part of adventure sports is knowing when to be serious, at Intrepidus Outdoors we take safety very seriously and our clients safety is of upmost importance. Our canyoning adventures are open to almost all abilities, but for the safety of yourself, the rest of the group and our instructors, you must be physically able to join us.
To keep you safe, we also ask you to complete our medical consent form, which you complete upon booking and is then checked by a member of our office team before we have the go ahead to run the trip. If you are unsure whether you are able to join us for a canyoning adventure, due to a medical issue or previous injury, please speak to your doctor and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us- we would be happy to help with any enquiries.
All of our canyoning instructors are ICA qualified, whitewater rescue qualified and outdoor first aiders, with lots of knowledge and experience in canyoning, coasteering, hill walking and mountain biking, as well as other adventure sports.
As well as all our guides being trained to the highest standard, we use top of the range safety equipment and have in-depth knowledge of the adventurous locations we use.
I can’t swim- can I go canyoning?
Yes! We provide buoyancy aids to keep you afloat.
