5 Outdoor Activities with beautiful scenery in Scotland

If you are one of those people that hate sitting around your hotel or exploring the city just won’t cut it. We have something special for you!

Our list of 5 great outdoor activities that you can enjoy when staying in or near Edinburgh, the adventure can begin as soon as you leave your hotel all you need to do is to figure out what you want to do, read on and with our list your choice of adventure will hopefully be a little bit easier.

Oh, and we have to add that each of the options has more than one additional possibility to choose from. So, you can personalise your choices very carefully and make your dream activity come true surrounded by beautiful Scottish nature. What are you waiting for?

1. Canyoning

We think that you are familiar with Canyoning but in case you have any questions or doubts, we will briefly tell you what it is all about. First of all, you have to like water and dipping in it. If water is your friend then canyoning can be a great choice for you. Scotland has some beautiful rushing rivers and deep rocky crevices to offer and this combination is ideal for a canyoning adventure.

If you have never done anything like it you can start with Adventure package and try your skills in great Dollar glen, and if you feel more confident maybe you should raise the bar a little higher and test yourself in Intermediate package and sensational Alva Glen. For the experienced and very brave ones we have an Advanced package that provides an extraordinary canyoning experience in Falls of Bruar, this adventure is not to be forgotten!

2. Coasteering

Scotland has a very rugged and beautiful coastline. After all, don’t forget that you’re on an extraordinary island! If you are attracted to the coastline and its diverse, rocky and sandy structure, we strongly recommend coasteering. This experience will provide you with an unforgettable and wonderful experience and you will also have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views and the wonderful Scottish coastline.

In this case, there are also several options to choose from, so you can tailor your wishes to your specific requirements. You can choose Adventure package and jump to the sea depths in the awesome Shell Bay or if you don’t know what fear is then we offer Advanced package in which we will take you to Arbroath, and there you will be on top of your gear.

In addition, you may be able to see wonderful sea animals like dolphins or whales, because they certainly swim somewhere nearby.

3. Canoeing

You don’t always have to jump or immerse yourself in water. You can also approach it a bit differently by choosing canoeing

Scottish lochs and rivers offer not only ideal conditions for Canoeing but also breathtaking views. During this activity, you can really get exhausted and experience many amazing things.

Additionally, you can choose exactly where you want to go, however, the choice between Loch Lomond, River Tweed or River Tay can be very difficult. Who wouldn’t want to explore the famous Scottish Loch where according to legend the monster lives, or take the first steps in canoeing starting with River Tweed, or experience more thrill and deep water by heading to the Rover Tay? It could be a great trip for a group of friends with a hint of rivalry in it.

4. Mountain Biking

Not everyone enjoys the water and we fully understand that. Scotland has so many wonderful hills, mountains and meadows that it is a pity not to discover them. That’s what Mountain Biking can offer you. Through the mountains, hills, forests and glens you can experience not only an extraordinary adventure but also admire the beautiful surroundings on the bike. However, it’s not a slow, calm bike ride, it’s mountain biking so it’s definitely going to give you the thrill of excitement.

Additionally, there are three very different options to choose from, so you’re sure to fit in with your requirements. The first package is the adventure mountain biking package, which will take you to the Glentress Forest and there you will certainly enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of Scotland. If you want to check yourself on a more difficult trail, maybe you should choose the Advanced package and go with us to the Innerleithen, where you will surely experience many surprising downhills. If you feeling a bit of wilderness need, choosing the Adventure package will be the best choice. We will take you to the Laggan Wolftrax and there will be no boredom or lack of vibrant excitement.

5. Hill walking

How about the mountains? If you feel excited about a few hours of walking in the mountains, we have something perfect for you. We can arrange a whole day of hill walking for you from Edinburgh.

Scotland has many amazing hills to hike, and really the view from their top provides an extraordinary and unforgettable experience. The panorama that stretches across these mountains will surely inspire you with a dose of positive energy. Also, as in previous attractions you can choose which of the hills you would like to conquer the most.

So, from the Ben Ledi (2883 feet high) through the Ben Lomond (3195 feet high) to the Ben Nevis (4412.73 feet high), the choice is great. It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover another beautiful side of Scotland.

The great thing is that you can choose exactly what suits you best and adjust it to your expectations. We make sure it will be an extraordinary day for you. We will pick you up from your hotel and take you to your chosen location. We provide qualified staff who know their job well and will take care of your safety. Besides, we provide equipment in perfect condition so as a standard we ensure you with all safety clothing.

All of the above activities will take the whole day, so including transport, we can also take care of food catering tailored to your preferences. There is nothing better than experiencing an exciting adventure in the open air surrounded by beautiful Scottish nature!

I don’t think there’s a better way to spend a free day near Edinburgh. The adventure awaits, all you have to do is make the right choice and enjoy the whole experience. We are waiting for you together with magnificent Scottish scenery. This adventure can change your life!

Outdoor Activities: Edinburgh & Scotland

Our values reflect those of a business started by a small group of rock climbers and mountain bikers. The experiences that we have had adventuring, and our passion for the outdoors, has led us to choose a lifestyle dedicated to sharing our love for the outdoors with others. The approach that we take to the experiences that we provide, and the business that we run, is that of sustainability, and an unapologetic quest for quality.

For us at Intrepidus Outdoors, we recognise that our experiences kayaking in clean rivers, surfing on unpolluted beaches and climbing frozen waterfalls have contributed to who we are as people. Therefore, protecting the planet so that the next generation of adventurers can have their own experiences, is hugely important for us. We believe that for people, communities and businesses to make the choice to minimise their impact on our planet, they must first value the planet that we have. We feel that the best way for people to value our blue planet, is to have first hand quality experiences in nature. They can then see the beauty of a forest, feel the power of an ocean and learn to love what is outside our towns and cities, so that they then fight to protect them. We strive to through the products that we deliver make a small difference to peoples understanding of the impact that they have on our world.

Our experiences adventuring have made us who we are and Intrepidus Outdoors is a reflection of us. We provide real adventurous experience that we hope you will cherish.
