The Scottish Three Peaks

What to Expect

The Scottish Three Peaks is a serious undertaking that needs a very good level of physical fitness and mental strength to achieve. After all, we are climbing the three highest mountains in the UK, back to back. It is also important to prepare yourself for ascending and descending steep terrain as much of this challenge is not on a trail or path.

People pitching themselves against this challenge will need to ensure that they have a solid foundation of fitness and confidence on their feet in the hills. This will give you and your team the very best chance of success. The Scottish Three Peaks is an incredible adventure but not for beginers!

If you have any other question about the Scottish Three Peaks or how to prepare, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The Scottish 3 peaks is a hiking challenge that involves the ascent of Ben Nevis (1,345 m), Ben Macdui (1,309 m) and Braeriach (1,296 m). These are the 3 highest peaks not only in Scotland but in the UK.

The Scottish 3 Peaks Challenge is a very hard undertaking and is significantly more challenging that the National 3 Peaks. This is due to the additional high gain, significantly further distances (50km) and less rest in between.

If your looking to under take the challenge I would encourage yourselves not to focus on doing it in 24 hours and instead to hike two mountains on the Saturday and the final mountain on the Sunday. This makes it far more achievable for people that aren’t mountain runners.

We would run the trip for between £399 and £450 per person depending on group size. This includes collection from Edinburgh

The Three Peaks Plan

Day 1 –Meet your group and your guide at Edinburgh Waverly Train Station and transfer up to Fort William. Check in to your accommodation, listen to the evening briefing, and go through the equipment checks with your mountain leader.

Day 2 {Part 1} –  Breakfast and then the short drive to the base of Ben Nevis (aiming for a 5am start).  Now the adventure begins! The back to back ascent of Ben Nevis then a short drive before tackeling Ben Macdui  which includes navigating some serious terrain.

Day 3 – Day 2 of walking will see us head up through the Chalamain Gap Brariach, Scotlands 3rd highest mountain. This is a 25km mission up and down. Once achived we will head back down to Edinburgh.

Outdoor Activities Edinburgh & Scotland

Our values reflect those of a business started by a small group of rock climbers and mountain bikers. The experiences that we have had adventuring, and our passion for the outdoors, has led us to choose a lifestyle dedicated to sharing our love for the outdoors with others. The approach that we take to the experiences that we provide, and the business that we run, is that of sustainability, and an unapologetic quest for quality.

For us at Intrepidus Outdoors, we recognise that our experiences kayaking in clean rivers, surfing on unpolluted beaches and climbing frozen waterfalls have contributed to who we are as people. Therefore, protecting the planet so that the next generation of adventurers can have their own experiences, is hugely important for us. We believe that for people, communities and businesses to make the choice to minimise their impact on our planet, they must first value the planet that we have. We feel that the best way for people to value our blue planet, is to have first hand quality experiences in nature. They can then see the beauty of a forest, feel the power of an ocean and learn to love what is outside our towns and cities, so that they then fight to protect them. We strive to through the products that we deliver make a small difference to peoples understanding of the impact that they have on our world.

Our experiences adventuring have made us who we are and Intrepidus Outdoors is a reflection of us. We provide real adventurous experience that we hope you will cherish.
